Procedure Details

This includes an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Anterior cervical discectomy with fusion, or ACDF, is a surgery designed to relieve spinal cord or nerve root pressure in the neck by removing all or part of a damaged disc. Please note that if imaging is performed during the surgery, you may recieve a bill from the radiologist.

  • Facility fee

    operating and recovery room services & supplies for outpatient stay (less than 24 hours) at Watauga Orthopaedics

  • Physician fee

    treatment and procedure-related postoperative follow-up visit(s) within 90 days of surgery. Does NOT include the initial evaluation to determine the need of the procedure.

  • Anesthesiologist fee

    regional or general anesthesia for the entire duration of the procedure

  • Pathology fee

    specimen(s) examination and tests for diagnosis. This test does not include the pathologic workup of malignancy. If malignancy is discovered during your procedure, additional charges will be incurred.

  • MDsave fee

    Covers the cost of contracting upfront rates with all involved medical providers, processing payment, and distributing funds, minimizing administrative overhead and allowing for a lower total price

Dr. Scott MacDonald received his undergraduate degree in psychology from Auburn University in Montgomery, Alabama, and earned his medical degree from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee, where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residence with Wellmont Health Systems (now ETSU Orthopaedic Residency), where he trained with Dr. Richard Duncan.   Dr. MacDonald then completed a combined orthopaedic and neurosurgery spine fellowship at Duke University, where he was trained in the latest minimally invasive spine surgery. Dr. MacDonald returned to the Tri-Cities with the intent of bringing the latest in spine surgery to the area.   When he’s not treating patients, Dr. MacDonald enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Leslie live in the Kingsport area with their children, Mason and Hayden.
