Procedure Details

This includes a hand/finger tendon release. Hand/finger tendon release is a surgical procedure that involves cutting a tendon in either the hand or in the finger to allow for a greater range of movement.

    treatment and procedure-related postoperative follow-up visit(s) within 90 days of surgery. Does NOT include the initial evaluation to determine the need of the procedure.

  • Anesthesiologist fee

    regional or general anesthesia for the entire duration of the procedure

A native of Starkville, Mississippi, Dr. Marc Aiken attended Mississippi State University for his undergraduate studies and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi in 1983. He also performed a five-year orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.   Dr. Aiken completed an AO/ASIF fellowship in hand surgery and trauma with Dr. Ueli Buchler at Inselspital in Bern, Switzerland. He also spent time studying in Edinburg, Scotland, and New Castle, England.   A board-certified orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Aiken enjoys performing medical mission work and teaching in numerous countries around the world. He serves as a consultant for sports-related injuries to many area teams. He is a preceptor for students and residents at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine, as well as the fourth-year orthopedic residents from the University of Mississippi program.   With experience in trauma care both in the U.S. and abroad, Dr. Aiken has donated time, implants, and instruments to improve orthopedic trauma care in numerous countries around the globe, such as Russia, Romania, Haiti, Trinidad, Mongolia, Brazil, China, Africa, and more.   Dr. Aiken has served as chairman for AO resident courses in Arkansas and Colorado, as well as chairman for the OR personnel course here in the Tri-Cities, during which he was involved in teaching procedures and techniques for trauma care of injured orthopaedic patients. Dr. Aiken has also been part of the faculty for numerous trauma courses in the US and abroad, teaching fracture fixation techniques and procedures.   Since 1995, Dr. Aiken has served as the sports medicine physician for the Masters Water Ski Tournament at Callaway Gardens, Georgia, providing care for the top water skiers in the world. He is also the team physician for the United States Ski Team.   Dr. Aiken has practiced in Johnson City, Tennessee since 1988, where he resides with his wife, Laura, and their children, Alan and Emily. In his free time, Dr. Aiken enjoys sports, woodworking, auto restoration, waterskiing, church activities, and traveling.
