Dr. John P. Manalo can’t count the number of times that people have stopped him at church or school and said how his parents who are also medical professionals have impacted their lives. It’s that ability to have immediate impact and hands-on nature of surgery that drew him to the medical profession, and specifically orthopedics.   First and foremost, Dr. Manalo listens to patients, to find out where they are hurting and how it is affecting their life. Next, he finds a treatment plan tailored for that particular patient with an emphasis on education. Bringing the patient into the decision-making process helps them make a well-informed choice on which option meets their goals. The most rewarding part of his job is hearing how patients once limited by hip or knee arthritis are suddenly doing the things they want after treatment.   An admitted technology nerd, Dr. Manalo enjoys spending time with his wife, Natalie, and three children. He’s an avid Cubs, Colts and Notre Dame fan who also might show up on links around the city to play golf with family. He helps train the next generation of physicians by serving as a lecturer for Family Practice Residents and mentoring them in his clinic.
