Midwestern Values
Dr. Rosenfeld is a husband to his wife, Shaina, and a father to his 3 boys, Charlie, Jack and Henry. Born and raised in Michigan his Midwest values (honesty, trust, dependability) are important to him. As family values are equally important, he left his practice of 7 years (2000-2007) at Cedars Sinai Medical Center to join Simi Valley Adventist Hospital in order to be closer to his family. He works hard to be a loving husband and father, while striving to be the best, most up to date proctologist. Dr. Rosenfeld’s motto is “if we treat every patient like a family member, each patient will get the best and utmost compassionate care.”
Practice Philosophy
Although my training in surgery and my subspecialty of proctology was based on Western Medicine philosophy, my practice approach includes a holistic ideology as well. All patients are different, therefore the one size fits all mentality is not the way to practice medicine. I firmly believe in natural and conservative therapies for healing and reserve surgery for times when it becomes the best option or is the only option. I begin therapy, when appropriate, with all natural products to improve colorectal and anorectal health. These products include unadulterated psyllium based fiber, natural plant based (bioflavonoid) antioxidants to shrink hemorrhoids, probiotics, prebiotics with other natural ingredients like L-Glutamine and Aloe Vera extract for improving intestinal health and encourage more water intake.
Prior to determining if hemorrhoid surgery is necessary I can painlessly treat internal hemorrhoids in the office as the first line of therapy. For the majority of patients therapy along with all natural supplements work very well to avert surgery for the issue. When surgery or a procedure such as a colonoscopy is necessary, I use the latest proven technology along with the newest proven methods available. The best way to offer effective, caring and nurturing health care is to listen to the patients, make a diagnosis and, when appropriate, use both a holistic practice in conjunction the Western practices of Medicine. Both philosophies have their advantages and when used together can be more effective than done individually.
Professional Expertise
Dr. Rosenfeld finished his fellowship at USC in proctology and colorectal surgery in 1998. Dr. Rosenfeld specializes in proctology (butt doctor) in California. He is an expert in diagnostic colonoscopy, surgical colonoscopy, hemorrhoid therapy, hemorrhoid surgery, benign and malignant anal diseases and pilonidal cyst disease. He has been in private practice since 1998. He spent 7 years at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. During his tenure he was an active professor in the colorectal surgery fellowship program. Dr. Rosenfeld is now on staff at Simi Valley Hospital, Aspen Surgery Center and is also a Clinical Assistant Professor at County Hospital USC. He is double board certified in general surgery and colorectal surgery/proctology.
Specialist in Proctology
Dr. Rosenfeld specializes in proctology including:
“No-cutting” Hemorrhoid Surgery
Hemorrhoid symptoms including bleeding, discomfort and protrusion are very common. Due to embarrassment or fear of surgery most won’t seek hemorrhoid therapy. Hemorrhoid therapy can be performed painlessly in the office. If necessary, hemorrhoid surgery does not have to be very painful. A recent advance in hemorrhoid surgery called Dopper Guided Hemorrhoid Artery Ligation (DGHAL), is available and is virtually painless. This new hemorrhoid therapy uses doppler guided suturing without cutting. With DGHAL, recovery is much easier.
Awards and Publications
Dr. Rosenfeld published a chapter on laparoscopic colectomy [Modern Management of Cancer of the Rectum: Chapter 9: Laparoscopic Resections for Large Bowel Malignancy, Springer-Veriag Publications, London].
His paper, “Intraoperative High Resolution Anoscopy: a minimally invasive approach in the treatment of patients with Bowen’s Disease and results in a private practice setting” was accepted for publication in The American Surgeon 2007;73:1279-1283. Bowen’s disease is the same as high grade anal dysplasia.

What people have to say about this practice
I wish there were more doctors like David Rosenfeld. He and his staff waited for me on late Monday night after they heard about my symptoms on the phone. The same day, Doctor operated on me, and he has been extremely helpful and professional through the entire post-operational period.
His staff is friendly, i have never had any issues with any of them. David Rosenfeld cares about his clients, and this quality should be considered invaluable these days.

Dr Rosenfeld is a rare combination of knowlege, experience and empathy. He came highly recommended to me via my family practioner.
He and his office staff have been instrumental in providing support after he recently discovered my colon cancer via a colonoscopy he encouraged me to have. He was forthright in explaining the implications of my tumor and he made knowledgeable suggestions, recommendatiions regarding what I needed to do next. He and his staff have gone out of their way to make this difficult time a positive transition and they continue to do so!
Dr. Rosenfeld does not take our insurance at this time but he was very fair in his charges and the office staff is very up front about how the charges are handled. They handled all my insurance billing so I could be reimbursed ASAP!

Complete professional, great staff and wonderful results!! I had a perirectal abscess in March which the doctor diagnosed immediately upon seeing me and then treated. I felt 100 times better that same day and was on the road to recovery. He checked on me many times after the treatment and so did his staff. He really cares and he spent alot of time with me going over everything about my condition. I feel lucky to have found Dr Rosenfeld since I am not originally from the area. My dad is a radiologist and met Dr Rosenfeld and was also very impressed. He is truly a specialist in his field and I would highly recommend him!! Thanks again Dr and God Bless!!
