Procedure Details

This includes a duodenal switch, also known as biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch. This is a bariatric procedure for weight loss that involves removing part of the stomach and part of the small intestine. This includes the cost of the assistant surgeon.

Price Details

Your purchase includes the following services:

  • Facility fee

    operating and recovery room services & supplies for a normal inpatient stay (average 1 to 2 days) which will be determined by your physician at Lutheran Hospital

  • Physician fee

    treatment and procedure-related postoperative follow-up visit(s) within 90 days of surgery. Does NOT include the initial evaluation to determine the need of the procedure.

  • Anesthesiologist fee

    regional or general anesthesia for the entire duration of the procedure

  • Pathology fee

    specimen(s) examination and tests for diagnosis. This test does not include the pathologic workup of malignancy. If malignancy is discovered during your procedure, additional charges will be incurred.

  • Hospitalist fee

    services provided by a hospitalist, a doctor who is responsible for coordinating medical care for hospitalized patients if your physician becomes unavailable

  • MDsave fee

    Covers the cost of contracting upfront rates with all involved medical providers, processing payment, and distributing funds, minimizing administrative overhead and allowing for a lower total price

A life-long Hoosier, Dale A. Sloan, MD, FACS, joined Lutheran Medical Group in July 2013. Previously, he was a member of Indiana Surgical Specialists. Dr. Sloan is trained in bariatric surgery, advanced laparoscopic techniques and endocrine surgery, including parathyroid and thyroid procedures.   Dr. Sloan earned a bachelor's degree at Indiana Wesleyan University in 1975 and a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis in 1979. He completed a surgical internship and residency at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Sloan, who has been a practicing surgeon in Fort Wayne since 1984, is board certified in surgery and started the Lutheran bariatric surgery program in 2005. Over the years, Dr. Sloan has been featured in various publications, including "The American Surgeon," "Contemporary Surgery" and "The Journal of the Indiana State Medical Society," and he has frequently been recognized as a "Top Doc" in Fort Wayne, an acknowledgment bestowed by his peers. In 2004, he received "Top Gun" honors by taking first place in the laparoscopic skills competition at the American College of Surgeons' annual meeting.   Dr. Sloan, who is an Advanced Trauma Life Support instructor, co-leads a surgical missions' team to the Dominican Republic each year. He is a fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the Indiana State Medical Association, the Fort Wayne Surgical Society and the Fort Wayne Medical Society.
