A native of Johnson City, Dr. David Christopher Carver received his undergraduate degree in physics and history from East Tennessee State University and his Doctor of Medicine from ETSU’s James H. Quillen College of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee, one of the oldest and most prestigious orthopaedic clinics in the country. He then completed a sports medicine fellowship with Tahoe Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in South Lake Tahoe, California. Dr. Carver further enhanced his professional credentials by obtaining the Orthopedic Sports Medicine Subspecialty Certification from the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). This accolade is a mark of distinction among orthopedic surgeons and is granted only to those Board-Certified practitioners who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and expertise, either through further training, managing a high volume of sports medicine cases, or making substantial contributions to the field of sports medicine. This unique accomplishment further underscores his commitment to providing the highest level of care to his patients.

Throughout his training, Dr. Carver has cared for all types of athletes, from the weekend warriors and high school football teams to NBA basketball players. He served as a team physician for the Olympic-level skiers on the U.S. Men’s Alpine Ski Team. Internationally, Dr. Carver has participated in mission trips to Uganda and Guatemala.

Dr. Carver's advanced training in sports medicine allows him to perform minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He also performs joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee.

Dr. Carver lives in the Tri-Cities area with his wife and two daughters and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities. He is an avid runner and participates regularly in trail ultramarathons. He is excited to care for the orthopaedic needs of residents of the Tri-Cities and surrounding areas.
