Dr. Mitchell is a native of Montgomery, Alabama. He attended Auburn University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences. He graduated magna cum laude from the honors program and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Dr. Mitchell earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2011, maintaining the rank of top quartile in his medical school class. He then completed residency training at the University of Tennessee Family Practice, where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Mitchell went on to perform his fellowship at Duke University in Primary Care Sports Medicine. While at Duke, he provided physician coverage for all Duke University varsity sports teams (including the 2015 National Championship Duke Men’s Basketball team) and served as team physician for Elon University and other professional and amateur sports teams.

Dr. Mitchell returned to Chattanooga to join CSMO in 2015. He currently serves as co-team physician for Chattanooga Football Club, Chattanooga Red Wolves, Chattanooga Lookouts, as well as multiple area high schools, and he serves as medical director for CSMO’s Ortho Urgent Care – North Georgia. Dr. Mitchell and his wife, Lindsey, are blessed with three children – Betsy, Ford, and Anna. In addition to family activities, he enjoys golf, turkey hunting and fishing.
