Hilton Head Island native and board-certified orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Edward R. Blocker has been an orthopaedic specialist in Beaufort for more than 15 years. After graduating from Wofford College and the Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Blocker trained extensively in orthopaedics, pediatric orthopaedics and orthopaedic surgery. His use of minimally invasive techniques in hip and knee replacement surgery often means his patients experience a shorter surgery, faster recovery, and more successful outcome.
Dr. Blocker is experienced in total joint replacement, sports medicine, trauma and hand surgery. Through Beaufort Memorial’s Joint Replacement Center, he provides advanced procedures including Custom Fit® knee replacement, which customizes knee replacement surgery based upon each patient’s unique anatomy. Where possible, Dr. Blocker takes a minimally invasive approach to knee replacement and hip replacement to reduce post-operative pain, speed healing, and create a more durable and effective replacement.
In his spare time, Dr. Blocker is an avid sportsman. He is well versed in the newest advances in orthopaedic care and surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the South Carolina Orthopaedic Association.
