About Douglas Stringham, M.D.

Dr. Douglas Stringham practices General Orthopedic surgery with specialization in the treatment of sports injuries, fractures, and cartilage defects. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and he is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Stringham graduated Magna Cum Laude from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He attended medical school at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City.

After graduating from medical school he moved to Tampa, Florida to complete a General Surgery Internship at the University of South Florida. Dr. Stringham remained at the University of South Florida to begin an Orthopedic Surgery Residency before moving to Tucson, Arizona to complete his orthopedic residency at the University of Arizona.

Because of interest in sports injuries, Dr. Stringham returned to the University of Utah to complete a Sports Medicine Fellowship in Orthopedic Surgery. During this fellowship, he was involved in the orthopedic care of a wide variety of athletic injuries in national-caliber athletes from football and basketball players to gymnasts and ballerinas. Also, during the ski season, he was the weekend physician at one of the major ski resorts outside of Salt Lake City.

After returning to Florida, Dr. Stringham traveled to Sweden to learn an innovative technique for the treatment of cartilage injuries from the pioneer of that procedure. Carticel Surgery is a technique in which articular cartilage injuries in the knee are repaired by reimplanting the patient's own cartilage cells that have been grown in culture.

Dr. Stringham is certified by the Florida Division of Workers? Compensation. He has lectured across the nation on many orthopedic topics and he has authored notable research articles that have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Dr. Stringham enjoys a wide variety of sports including water skiing, downhill skiing, mountain biking, and rollerblading. Having lived in Spain for two years, Dr. Stringham is fluent in Spanish and thus better able to care for the significant Spanish-speaking population in South Florida.

What people have to say about this practice

Doctor Stringham was very knowledgeable and patient. See addressed my problem with the mindset of trying to cure it rather than just treat it. His office staff is very nice as well as efficient. Highly recommend – Laura M.
