Daniel Acevedo, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus on shoulder and elbow reconstruction.
Dr. Acevedo grew up in Southern California and attended UC Irvine for his undergraduate and medical school training. In medical school, he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and earned numerous awards for scholastic and clinical achievement. After medical school, he pursued training in orthopedic surgery at LAC+USC Medical Center, where he was elected administrative chief resident. He also received multiple awards, including the Herman Epstein Award, which is awarded to the best senior resident in the class. He then traveled to Philadelphia to complete a shoulder and elbow surgery fellowship at the prestigious Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
During his fellowship, he worked with world-renowned surgeons in the field of shoulder and elbow surgery. He received advanced training in shoulder and elbow replacements, shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, shoulder and elbow instability, upper extremity fractures, rotator cuff repairs, tendon transfers for the shoulder, and sports injuries surrounding the shoulder and elbow, including Tommy John surgery, also known as ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) reconstruction.
He has published numerous book chapters, journal articles, and surgical training videos for shoulder and elbow surgery. He enjoys teaching and has served as faculty for many local and national courses. He has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles and has a research interest in biologic augments for rotator cuff tendon repair, shoulder arthroplasty, and Tommy John surgery outcomes.
He continues to use evidence-based practices with the latest medical research and cutting-edge treatments to provide his patients with the best possible care. Dr. Acevedo’s skill set allows him to treat a wide array of patients, and he has a keen interest in treating competitive and recreational athletes. He specializes in minimally invasive shoulder replacements.
Dr. Acevedo is available to see patients at the Encino, Tarzana, Thousand Oaks, and Valencia locations.
