About Christopher S. Warrell, MD

After growing up in Central Ohio, Dr. Warrell pursued his undergraduate education at Ohio University. He remained in Ohio for his medical education, attending the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University in Dayton. While in medical school he received numerous honors, including election to both the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He was nominated for the Student of the Year award on an annual basis and, upon graduation, was the sole recipient of the Dean’s Award, which is presented to the graduate who shows commitment to academic excellence, empathy and compassion toward others, personal integrity and professionalism, and earns the respect and trust of classmates and faculty.

Following medical school, Dr. Warrell headed south and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Orlando Health. During residency he developed an interest in sports medicine while providing care for Edgewater and Legacy High School athletes and local professional events including Orlando City Soccer Club, Arnold Palmer Invitational and Washington Nationals Spring Training. This interest led Dr. Warrell to pursue additional fellowship training in sports medicine with world-renowned sports surgeon James Andrews, M.D., at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, FL. The fellowship provided Dr. Warrell with exposure to all aspects of nonoperative and operative musculoskeletal patient care. During his fellowship, Dr. Warrell served as Assistant Team Physician for the Auburn University Football Team and participated in the care of numerous professional, collegiate and recreational athletes.

Subsequent to his time at the Andrews Institute, Dr. Warrell was the recipient of the prestigious American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM) Herodicus Society Traveling Fellowship for 2017-2018. This honor, given to only two sports medicine fellows nationally each year, permitted Dr. Warrell to travel and learn from top experts in the field of sports medicine.

Dr. Warrell has participated in leading edge research and written multiple textbook chapters regarding the care of athletes. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Though Buckeyes at heart, Dr. Warrell and his wife were drawn back to Central Florida by the great local community, friends and church. They currently reside in Winter Garden.
