Bryce T. Austell, M.D. is from Chicago, Illinois. He studied Mechanical Engineering and Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before pursuing his Doctor of Medicine at Rush Medical College. While in medical school he researched aerospace medicine and published a report on the effect of space flight on astronaut health. During this time he worked as a liaison between Rush Medical College and Midwest Orthopedics and also served as President of both Rush University Student Council and Rush University PRIDE.   Dr. Bryce Austell remained in Chicago after graduation to complete his residency in anesthesiology at Rush University Medical Center and continued conducting research in anesthesiology and orthopedic surgery. His research included clinical studies on airway management and both acute and chronic pain management (peri-operative pain relief methods and medications, nerve blocks and procedures, neuromodulation, and minimally invasive techniques). During his final year, he was selected as Chief Resident and helped lead his colleagues in combating COVID at the height of the pandemic.   He then went on to complete a multidisciplinary fellowship in interventional pain medicine at Northwestern University Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Dr Austell  is double board certified in both Anesthesiology as well as Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is  licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida and was recently named as a Top Physician in Pain Management by Orlando Family Magazine.   Throughout his studies and career, Dr. Austell’s work has been accompanied by a focus on community outreach. He has used various leadership roles to advocate for wellness, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the hospitals and cities where he has worked. He has volunteered his medical care and surgical services through both local humanitarian organizations in the Chicago area and overseas medical aid trips. His other interests include family, friends, health, fitness, music, and travel.
