“I’m a mom of three boys, now all teenagers and older. My current job is as a pharmacy technician and I’ve worked for the same company for 21 years.”
“My 45th birthday this year was not so nice to me. I started having some health problems and I didn’t understand why my legs were swelling, so I went to the doctor back in February and they told me that they wanted me to have an MRI, a nuclear stress test, and all this blood work. Because I have insurance with a high deductible of $1,500, I told them ‘No, I don’t want to do this.’
But then when COVID-19 came along, I just wasn’t sure what I was going to do. My legs started swelling more than just occasionally and I wasn’t sure what was going on, but I wasn’t able to come with $2,000 for an MRI and another $2,300 for a nuclear stress test. You can’t just come up with that amount of money, all at one time.”
“So, I talked to a friend of mine who had recently been in a car accident. She’d had an MRI done and the local hospital here had recommended that she use MDsave to save money.
When I checked out MDsave, I was hesitant at first, because I didn’t want to purchase a voucher and it end up being the wrong one. But I called the MDsave help line and told them, ‘I haven’t made an account yet, but can you answer some questions for me?’ and they were very helpful. They told me what I was going to need from my physician and they made sure that my local hospital was the correct facility where I could redeem my voucher.
I purchased my voucher, and then the day before my MRI, the hospital called to confirm that I was going to be at my appointment. They told me what my total cost was going to be and when she went to say ‘$2,000,’ I said ‘No, ma’am, I have an MDsave voucher.’ And she said, ‘Yes ma’am, I remember!’ And I was very, very thankful for being able to pay only $459.”
“When I went to check in for my procedure, I had my voucher printed out. [The woman at the front desk] said, ‘Okay, let me redeem this for you!’ And she had no problems doing so. No problems at all. She was very familiar with the process.
And when I called my insurance to ask about applying my MDsave purchase to my deductible, they told me that ‘it was very simple.’ They just needed something showing that I had received my service from the hospital along with a copy of my voucher. I faxed those documents directly to my insurance the next day and then called on Friday to ensure that they got it. That was it—it was that easy.”
“Having worked in healthcare for so long, on the pharmacy side, I see people struggle every single day. Not having the medication they need, not having the test that they need, not having the answers they want about their healthcare. That’s why I appreciate MDsave—having someone out there to be able to offer an easy process to get great savings on your medical needs—it’s awesome. I will definitely continue to spread the word about MDsave. And it’s so nice that my insurance was able to accept my purchase and apply it towards my deductible!
I recommend everyone get whatever tests can provide them with the most answers to their medical questions. And definitely check out MDsave to see what savings can be found!”
