About six months ago, I was going to get a sinuplasty, and you need to have a CT scan done ahead of time. Even with my insurance paying their portion, it was still going to be several thousand dollars. The lady at the hospital told me about MDsave, and that you can save on your procedure if you pay for it ahead of time. I paid $400-something dollars, and considering what it was going to cost me otherwise, it was a bargain and a half.
It was almost too good to be true. So I paid for the CT scan, and I thought, “I’m going to go to the hospital with this voucher and they’re going to say it’s no good.” But I had such a good experience with that, and I saved so much money, that I looked into how much MDsave was going to save me [on my sinuplasty].
I had gone to a different doctor and talked to her about getting sinuplasty, but even with insurance, I would still be paying about $10,000 out-of-pocket. So I visited with Dr. McCutcheon. First of all, he was on MDsave. It was a good price for the sinuplasty, and I wanted to visit with him and make sure that I felt he was competent. In my opinion, he is a much better doctor than the one I had been recommended. He was much more thorough, explained more of what was going on, and I was very appreciative of his bedside manner and his staff.
I felt very comfortable going into the surgery with him. I had one of the best experiences ever. It’s a rough surgery, but his staff and the people who were in the room with me made me feel so calm. They were there with me every step of the way. Dr. McCutcheon walked me through everything, and I felt the entire time that I was in competent hands. I was not nervous at all. I was treated incredibly well by everybody.
The sinuplasty itself has been a tremendous success. It’s the first time I feel like I can breathe in maybe 15 years. It’s cleared out all the infections, and there were several other things wrong when he got in there that nobody knew about, including me. He knows exactly what he’s doing. Every inch of the way, I knew I was in good hands.
I don’t write reviews for people. Very, very seldom do I even write a review on Yelp about anybody. So for me to even say all of this is something that I don’t usually do.
I came to Dr. McCutcheon with the CT scan already done, because I had done it through MDsave in the hospital. With that, I saved thousands. With the other doctor, by the time she would have had to do all the extra things, I’m sure it would have been about $15,000. With Dr. McCutcheon, I think my total came to about $7,700.
As far as I’m concerned, I had a much better doctor, so all around I feel like I got a much better deal.
I’ve already recommended several people who needed procedures to go to MDsave. A really good friend of mine has insurance, but her husband does not. He needs to have some tests done, so I told them about MDsave and they’re going to use it.
You know when you need somebody to hold your hand because it’s that stressful? That’s the way I felt. His presence, the way he dealt with everything, and the girls who worked in the room with him made me feel so calm. There’s a lot of good doctors out there, but not all of them have that capability. It was very obvious he knew what he was doing.
I would recommend Dr. McCutcheon to anybody, and I already recommend MDsave to anyone who needs to find a good deal. I’ve seen more than my share of doctors through the years, and I have nothing but incredible things to say.
I walked out of there feeling like I could breathe for the first time in forever. I thought it would be nice to give him a million dollars, but I didn’t have it, so they’ll have to be good with cookies and pumpkin bread!
